Farmers increased fertilizer consumption by 20% – Infoindustry news agency

The Infoindustry news agency published data showing that in the first 8 months (January to August 2025), imports of all types of fertilizers reached almost the two-million mark – 1.971 million tonnes. 
Total fertilizer consumption over 8 months (January to August 2025) in physical weight was about 3.42 million tonnes. 

Infoindustry notesthat the market is about 8-10% behind forecasts: as of 1 September, fertilizer consumption was expected to reach 3.7-3.8 million tonnes. Consumption here means the purchase of fertilizers by farmers or retail-chain traders for autumn application or winter storage.

Nitrogen fertilizers account for 1.149 million tonnes of this volume. 
The growth in nitrogen fertilizer imports is attributed not only to market growth but also to the decline in Ukrainian production. 
According to Infoindustry, fertilizer production in Ukraine over 8 months is approximately 1,450 thousand tonnes. Export volumes of fertilizers are pitifully small – 21.6 thousand tonnes.
